Following the instructions by the House of Representatives requesting that President Bola Tinubu direct the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to unfreeze the accounts of the Social Investment Programmes Agency a few days ago, a devastating fire gutted the warehouse of the National Social Investment Programme Agency in Idu, Abuja, on Thursday, resulting in the destruction of training tools worth billions of naira intended for N-Power beneficiaries.

The N-Power program is a social investment initiative launched by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development in Nigeria '. The program provides job training and education for young Nigerians, focusing on areas like technology, health, and agriculture. Beneficiaries are paid a monthly stipend during their two-year program participation

The program has undergone several batches before the alleged financial mismanagement by the programme handlers which prompted the federal government to suspend the programmes and freeze the agency's accounts.

The New humanitarian affairs ministry Minister had earlier stated that the ministry is working on reviving some of the program suspended under the ministry and also looking into the matter of the unpaid Npower beneficiaries backlog.
