FG And Meta Discussed Monetization Opportunities For Creators
Nigerian Government is ready to partner with Meta to create opportunities for businesses and Nigerian Digital content created to earn a living through Facebook and Instagram monetization.
The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy Dr. 'Bosun Tijani a few days ago, host members of Meta senior executive team led by Sir @nickclegg, President Global Affairs; Kojo Boakye, Vice President Public Policy, Africa, Middle East and Turkey; and Adaora lkenze, Director of Public Policy, Anglophone West Africa at Meta .

He stated that Meta platforms are Critical platforms in Nigeria, and as such Opportunities for partnerships and engagement are essential to promoting development in the digital economy.
They had extensive conversations on Artificial Intelligence, monetization opportunities for Nigerian businesses on Meta platforms, building resilience into global digital infrastructure among several other topics.
We must continue to engage to create opportunities for our people so they can also share in global prosperity. Digital technology is an opportunity to connect Africa to contribute to the development of the world," the Minister said.
Meta has historically invested in critical technology and platforms that allows humanity create, engage and collaborate, so they are a significant partner in our efforts to provide opportunities for our citizens to leverage the benefits of the digital economy for shared economic prosperity.
We also want to particularly commend Meta for their investment in the 2Africa submarine cable which, in the light of recent events, reiterates the value and importance of this relationship. We look forward to building on our partnership with them, the Minister concluded.

Meanwhile, Sir Clegg also said Meta will introduce in June 2024 a feature on its Instagram app that will allow Nigerian creators to monetize their content to enable them to earn a living using the app. "We have a lot to do with Nigeria to deepen partnerships," he added.
