DG SMEDAN Unveils Blueprint Plans For MSMEs Development In Nigeria

The Director General CEO of SMEDAN, Mr Charles Odii has presented a blueprint to fastrack the development of MSMEs in Nigeria by rapidly increasing the manufacturing output of MSMEs, which currently stands at 10-15%. (PWC, 2020).

The DG of SMEDAN while addressing members of the staff, pointed out the need for everyone to be part of the change management that is currently happening in the Agency.

According to him, in line with the vision of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, working with my team at SMEDAN plan to create a pathway for 40 million MSMEs to acquire all the ecosystem support required to accelerate their business growth.

1. We intend to create 5 million new jobs, 1 million entrepreneurs and attract export income worth 500 million USD.

2. We shall conduct outreach for 40 million MSMEs across Nigeria, find out their identity, location and needs. We shall celebrate excellence of 300 businesses and showcase 30 businesses at the international level.

3. We will be revolutionizing the Fashion/ Garment industry by stimulating Global patronage.

4. We will be focusing on scale in all our trainings by moving from 40-100 participants in physical trainings to multiple of thousands leveraging on tech platforms.

The DG promised to invest in human capital development to drive the new vision and called on to bring on their best ideas to collectively achieve the mandate.
