What fruits are the best to eat?
Fruits are part of a healthy diet and everyone should have at least 5 servings in a day. However, fruits are also high in sugars (fructose) and this has been linked to weight gain and chronic diseases like Diabetes Mellitus. Ordinarily, this fructose shouldn't be a problem, but the thing is with our love for a ‘sugar rush, people are getting even more sugar from other sources apart from fruits. Cumulatively, this sugar load becomes a problem.
1) Some fruits have more sugar content than others. The following fruits have been arranged in increasing order of their sugar contents: Blackberries, strawberries, apples, pineapples, oranges, bananas, grapes. This means that blackberries have less fructose than strawberries and strawberries have less than apples etc.
2) Some fruits are considered super fruits because they are full of vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants and fiber which work together to keep you healthy and even prevent diseases. Some of these super fruits are: apples, bananas, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, oranges, lemon, lime, grapefruit, watermelon, pineapples, pawpaw etc. So, now you know.
