How NSIP Monitors Tablets Remind Us Of Npower Batch B Device Unfinished Project

Seeing how the 4,452 newly trained NSIP Independent Monitors receiving their Engagement Letters and Devices currently across the Country to supervise all NSIP Programmes, one will be wondering why the NPower Batch C device distribution project was abandoned after all the promise and selection process that was involved.

When the NPower Programme started in 2016 with 200,000 volunteers as the first batch of the FG Empowerment Scheme under the management of VP Osinbajo, they batch A Beneficiaries were empowered with Electronic device to help them learn new skills which were installed in the device so that they can perform better in their various places of primary assignment and it was effective.

The distribution of devices to the batch A volunteers empowered many of them to become digital-savvy. This situation has helped some of them discover a career path in Digital jobs.

This made us revisit the post N-Power Begins Test Run Of Device Distribution in Some LGA Today, a post that was created a few years ago.

When the management see that the NPower Programme is impacting the youth positively, they decided to recruit another 300,000 Volunteers for the batch B 2017 and promised to also Empower them with Electronic device just like their batch A colleagues but the project did not see the light of the day after the Programme management team was changed.

The Npower and other NSIP Programme were moved to be managed by a new Ministry, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, disaster management and social development under the leadership of Sadiya Umar Farouq. A situation that left the NPower Batch B Npower device distribution project unfinished.

The distribution of Electronic devices to the newly recruited NSIP monitors has now reminded the NPower batch B of their device. The question now is that will the batch B volunteers still get their device under this Ministry? Time will tell.

The NPower Batch B actually reached the final stage of device Collection Full List Of 2017 Npower Devices Selection And Collection Date. But their hope was cut short.

The Good thing is that the new managers have initiated a new Empowerment Programmes for the exited Npower batches A and B called Nexit Scheme as an exit package. And are now sourcing FOR fund to kickstart the scheme. Let hope for the best.
