1) On Monday, attended the 65th UN Session of the Commission on the Status of Women. In my goodwill message at the event, I harped on the need for gender equality & women’s empowerment, especially in public life.

2) I also expressed delight at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women which provides a platform where stakeholders can engage to promote discussions that stimulate action in this regard.

3) I highlighted the fact that this year's priority theme, which focuses on women’s participation & decision-making in public life & the elimination of violence against women could not be more apt, considering the devastating impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on gender-based violence.

4) With Covid-19 continuing its devastation across the world, research has shown that pre-existing virulent social norms, gender inequalities & socio-economic pressures triggered by the pandemic have caused an aggressive rise in Gender-Based Violence.

5) However, despite the limitations faced by women around the world, women continue to strive for participation in leadership & decision-making & have made remarkable contributions in all sectors globally.

6) I referenced the appointment of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-lweala as the first African & woman to head the WTO as well as the recently sworn in first female President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan as proof that gender equity can be attained & should be made a top priority.

7) At fmhdsd we will continue to seek ways to uphold the dignity of women & girls to advance gender equality through our humanitarian interventions & empowerment programmes. For instance, in 2020, we introduced the grant for rural women as one of our intervention programmes.

8) On Tuesday I was part of the FG delegation to Zamfara & Katsina states which we visited to commiserate with them over market fires. We expressed the FG's sympathies and have mandated @nemanigeria to provide a full needs assessment.

9) On the same Tuesday, the Permanent Secretary Nuru Alkali represented me at the 10th Anniversary of the Nigeria - Switzerland Migration partnership.

10) In my comments on the occasion, | thanked their excellencies for the opportunity to be part of the occasion. | expressed pleasure at the unique decade-long relationship between Nigeria & Switzerland which is built on mutual trust, respect, progress & openness.

11) I also acknowledged the Nigeria-Swiss Bilateral Partnership on Migration conducted under the Joint Technical Committee (JTC) which has proven to be a model of diplomatic pragmatism on issues of common interest specifically relating to migration.

12) Nigeria's Migration Partnership with Switzerland was signed in 2011 & is aimed at intensifying cooperation between the two countries in the field of migration especially in ensuring humane & dignified return of irregular migrants from Switzerland to Nigeria.

13) On Wednesday, I attended the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting alongside other cabinet colleagues and it was presided over by the President HE @MBuhari. Important resolutions were reached.

14) On Thursday I joined other colleagues at a meeting of the Economic Sustainability Committee chaired by VP @ProfOsinbajo. Highlights include over 2m jobs saved with 57% of the N500bn appropriated for the ESP/Covid-19 interventions have now been released.
