Farmers Business School (FBS) Showcase Event Holds In Abuja

A Farmers Business School, FBS showcase event organised by the German Society for International Cooperation GIZ, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, FMARD and some State Agricultural Development Programme ADPs is ongoing in Abuja.

The FBS is an approach developed by the GIZ to assist farmers change their mindset to farming as a business. This is similar to the Farmer Field School but with bias on business skills.

The initiative also targets the Small Holder Farmers who farm less than 2 hectares and live in the rural areas.

The approach which can be adapted to all the value chain and for each node of the value chain be it primary production or processing, is designed to make small holder farmers more effective.
The FBS approach which is gender responsive and quite inclusive, is being implemented in various countries including Ghana, Malawi, Zambia, Ethiopia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cameroon, Benin and in Nigeria.
