Why FG N-Power Must Monitor Absorption Of Volunteers By State Govt

One key reason why FG N-Power must monitor absorption of Volunteers by any State Govt who intends to provide its volunteers permanent offers is "free and fair process of engagement  and people friendly decision making that will not undermine opportunities made for the rightful but helping them reaching their destination in life".

I want to use this opportunity to thank the plateau State government for their effort in absorbing the N-power teach component of the Federal government social investment Programme Plateau Volunteers as permanent staff.

I am also using this platform to call on all States Government to follow the foot step of plateau state government to decide the future of the youth in their states. One way they can do that is to start by providing the N-power Volunteers whom had work hard to add value to activities in their state of assignment with permanent opportunity.

However, while some of the state across the country are beginning to reveal their plans for Npower Volunteers, I suggest that Npower should monitor the transition of Npower Volunteers from Volunteers to Permanent staff process by state governments. So, that the process will not be undermine.

Government decision/policy has help uplift many to get to their destination in life, and also have been an obstacle to some, leading to redirection of opportunities and goals. For instance, majority of the 2016 Kaduna Npower Health and Teach had a goal and objective redirection by a decision made by the state government.

After N-power concluded and deployed volunteers to their various States for posting, Kaduna state went and conducted a fresh aptitude test and move majority of beneficiaries from N-Health and N-Teach to N-Agro for said reasons that they did not meet up with the 50% score point, a decision that has affected most 2016 N-power beneficiaries in Kaduna state. As we speak most of them do not know  whether they belong to N-health, N-Teach or N-Agro because their N-power status at the NPVN profile still carried their original program and have not changed.

The 2017 beneficiaries did not face this decision because probably N-power did not buy the Idea. That is why it is very important that N-power monitor the process of any transition of volunteer to permanent staff by the state government so that the process will be free and fair.
