New update shared by #NPowerNP today 18th December, 2017 on all their social media channels.
Alyasa'a Hassan is 29 years old. He tells his story below.
"I studied computer science and I am privileged to be one of the N-Power beneficiaries from Bauchi State, under the N-Agro category of the Programme.
At the beginning, the Federal Government in collaboration with the Bauchi State Agricultural Development Program (BSADP) engaged us with extensive training in Agricultural services to function as intermediaries between farmers and research.
The training they gave us includes irrigation method or dry season farming. So, some like minds among us organized ourselves to form a farmers cooperative society.
After that we decided to venture into irrigation farming. We tasked ourselves to contribute money from our monthly stipends. We tasked ourselves and make some cash contributions from our monthly stipends for our irrigation work.
We planned to plant cucumber because we noticed there is high demand for cucumber in Bauchi and some of our neighbouring states like Plateau and Gombe. So far our work is moving smoothly as planned, from all indications we are going to have a bumper harvest from the little amount we have planted so far. And we are determined to do so much more.
I want to thank the Federal Government under President Muhamadu Buhari and his Vice Professor Yemi Osinbajo for this wonderful initiative, the first of its kind in the history of this country, The N-Power programme have impacted positively in the lives of our teaming unemployed youths, especially we in the N-Agro, in which even at the end of the programme, I believe most of us would be able to rely and depend on ourselves. God Bless Nigeria!"
